About Us

Together Advancing the Gospel of Jesus into all of Africa and Beyond with all that we are, have, and are becoming in Christ.
A Few Words

Welcome to The Navigators Africa

God is doing a new thing in the continent of Africa. The Gospel of Jesus Christ is moving into the under-reached and unreached people and places, bringing light, hope, and life. The Gospel is bringing whole-life transformation to so many. There is still so much to do, but we are hopeful and willing.

The Navigators of Africa are beyond honored to be able to join the Lord in his missional work.

We are grateful to all our trainees, field staff, alongsiders, partners, and all of you who in your own unique way are participating in Changing the Spiritual Landscape of Africa.

About the Navigators Ministry

A Little of Our History

The Navigators® ministry began in the 1930s, in the USA when a young California lumberyard experienced the benefits of basic discipleship principles in his own life, Dawson Trotman and wanted to teach them to others, echoing the call of 2 Timothy 2:2: “And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others.”

Dawson began teaching high school students and local Sunday school classes these principles. In 1933, he and his friends extended their work to sailors in the U.S. Navy. Eventually, 125 men on their ship, the U.S.S. West Virginia, were growing in Christ and actively sharing their faith. By the end of World War II, thousands of men on ships and bases around the world were learning the principles of spiritual multiplication by the person-to-person teaching of God’s word and life-on-life discipleship.

Now, almost a century later, the vision remains; we want to see followers of Jesus next door to everywhere! In Africa, we have a presence in 31 countries with ministries at various stages (initiating, developing, maturing, and partnering).

In Africa, the Faith Direction is helping us to spearhead the mission to get the Gospel next door to everywhere.

Our Core Values

1. The passion to know, love, and become like Jesus Christ.
2. The truth and sufficiency of the Scriptures for the whole of life.
3. The transforming power of the gospel.
4. The leading and empowering of the Holy Spirit.
5. Expectant faith and persevering prayer rooted in the promises of God.

6. The dignity and value of every person.
7. Love and grace expressed among us in community.
8. Families and relational networks in discipling the nations.
9. Interdependent relationships in the Body of Christ in advancing the gospel.

Our Calling
To advance the gospel of Jesus and His Kingdom into the nations through spiritual generations of laborers living and discipling among the lost.
Our Vision Statement
We see a vital movement of the gospel, fueled by prevailing prayer, flowing freely through relational networks and out into the nations. Workers for the Kingdom are next door to everywhere!
We are characterized by:
A heart for the whole person, climates of grace, compassion for the vulnerable and broken, sacrificial unity embracing diversity, cultural relevance and sensitivity, interdependence with others in the wider family of God, transformed men and women, fragrant with humility and the aroma of Christ.

Our Statement of Faith

This is the core foundation for our ministry.
We believe:

  • That the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are inspired by God and inerrant in the original writings, and that they are of supreme and final authority in faith and life.
  • In one God, the Creator; eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  • That Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary, and that He was and remains true God and true man.
  • That God created Adam and Eve in the divine image; that they sinned, and thereby incurred not only physical death but also spiritual death, which is separation from God; and that, as a result of Adam’s sin, all human beings are now born with a sinful nature and stand guilty before God.
  • That the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice; and that all who believe in Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood.
  • In the resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into Heaven, and in His present life there for us, as High Priest and Advocate.
  • In the blessed hope of the personal and imminent return of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
  • That all who by faith receive the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God.
  • That the Holy Spirit indwells and gives spiritual life to all believers, enables them to understand biblical truth, empowers them for godly living, and equips them for service and witness.
  • In the bodily resurrection of the just and unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved, and the everlasting punishment of the lost.
